 Two basic winding methods for High frequency transformers: sequential winding and sandwich winding.

Sequential winding

(1) A general single output power supply, the transformer is divided into three windings, a primary winding Np, a secondary winding Ns, and an auxiliary power winding Nb, and the order of winding is: Np--Ns--Nb.

(2) This winding process is simple, easy to control various parameters of the magnetic core, good consistency, low winding cost, suitable for mass production, but slightly smaller leakage inductance, smaller coupling capacitance, better EMI Therefore, it is suitable for small power applications that are not sensitive to leakage inductance. Generally, such a winding method is widely used in power supplies with power less than 30~40W.

Sandwiches are divided into two types of winding: primary clamp secondary, secondary clamp primary.

(1) The winding method of the primary clamp secondary (also called the primary average winding method), this winding method has the advantage of large quantity, which is beneficial to the coupling of the primary and secondary, reducing the leakage inductance; it is also conducive to the smoothness of the winding; One benefit is that the voltage variation of the supply winding is less affected by the secondary load and is more stable. The disadvantage is that because the primary and secondary have two contact faces, the winding coupling capacitance is relatively large, so EMI is more difficult.

(2) The secondary winding primary winding method (also called secondary average winding method), when the output is low voltage and large current, this winding method is generally adopted, which has the advantages of effectively reducing the temperature rise caused by copper loss and reducing the primary coupling.
